There are many online degree programs offered by online universities, but not all degree programs are equal. The degree you earn through online may directly impact your career in future. Your options depend a lot on what kind of accreditation your school was granted. If your purpose of earning an online degree is to advance your career by getting a better position and better pay, then you should make sure the school will meet your expectations and help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself.
When an online university is accredited, it means that it has passed or surpassed a set of nationally recognized standards for its teaching process. Many employers are more opt to hire graduate from an accredited online university. Comparing the following options will help you make the choice that is right for you:
1. Accredited By A Proper Regional Agency
Regional accreditation is the highest level of accreditation a university can obtain and is recognized throughout the United States. If you earn a degree from an online school that is accredited by one of these associations, you can be assured that it will be as valid as a degree from any regular university. Most employers will automatically accept your degree. Most schools will accept your credits through transfer if you plan to further your education at other university in the future.
2. Accredited By Distance Education and Training Council
If your school is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council, your degree will be accepted by most but may be rejected by some. As online education becomes a trend today, more employers are beginning to accept online degrees. Hence, you should be no problem in applying a job using your online degree. But there were students graduated from an online university which is accredited by Distance Education & Training Council facing difficulties to transfer their credits to other institution. You may need to prove the legitimacy of your degree to others. However, this is still a valid option.
3. Accredited By A Professional Organization
If you are pursuing your degree at online university that is accredited by a professional organization, such as “The American Library Association”, your degree will only accepted by employers from specific profession. In term of credit transfer, some traditional colleges will accept your credits, but it really subjected to how the school looks at the professional organization which accredited your online university.
4. Not Accredited Or Accredited By Illegitimate Accreditation Agency
If your school is not accredited or is accredited by an agency that is not accepted as legitimate, your degree will be rejected by most employers and schools. Most employers will not view your degree as valid or legitimate. And most universities will not accept your credit transfer. If you are planning to use this degree to apply for a job, you will be at the losing edge when compete with other job applicants for the same position. Unless, your goal of online degree is simply to learn for your own enjoyment, then accredited and not accredited will not be an issue and choosing a non-accredited institution may be a fine option for you.
In Summary
Many people have difference goal on getting an online degree, know yours. Your career after you graduation will be affected by the accreditation of your online universities; hence, check to make sure the school will meet your expectations and help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself.

Getting an online education has become a very popular technique these days. Whether you are looking for a high school diploma or a graduate degree or some specialized certification to supplement your existing knowledge, it is very convenient to obtain these without having to take time off from your schedule to attend a regular educational institution.
There are many advantages associated with online study. Some are given below:
Unlike traditional learning, distance learning can offer you greater flexibility, as you don’t have to waste time- and money- commuting to the campus and you can choose a program that truly suits your interests or professional needs, because you are not confined to the classes that are offered locally.
Another advantage to distance learning is the fact that you can continue to work, because you don’t have to worry about fitting your classes around your job schedule.
Online programs often cost less than their traditional counterparts, so you can save money on tuition, if you pursue your degree through an online university.
Online study is also a great option for those students with physical handicaps, which may prevent them from traveling to a traditional campus. Likewise, if you are shy, or perhaps even language-challenged, participating in an online course may be the perfect alternative to a live class.
There are some major advantages to online education, including the ability to set your own study time. You may be looking for a promotion or career change that requires additional training or you may simply be ready to learn something new. But with today’s busy lifestyle, there’s little time to devote to regularly scheduled class time. That’s where online education can be a great asset for a motivated person.
Although there are many advantages of an online education, there are also some disadvantages. The fact that you are working on your own could very well be one of the major disadvantages of taking online educational classes.
Another major disadvantage is the lack of interaction. You aren’t in a classroom and don’t have the opportunity to hear questions and discussion from other students. This isn’t always an issue, depending on the subject of the online education course you are taking, but it could be an important factor in deciding whether an online education is the best option when seeking out opportunities for learning new skills or gaining new training.
But above all the disadvantages the online education is gaining more esteem than traditional education.

Enrollment is rising for online college degree programs, and working adults with some prior college experience are the demographic responsible for much of the growth, according to a recent report by the National Center for Education Statistics.
Investing in an online education is far from inexpensive, but many available distance learning programs are substantially less costly than comparative campus based offerings. This, in combination with the flexibility inherent in online learning, has made it a popular choice among those who work full time.
Jared Reed, a married father of two working on an online master’s of business administration while employed full time as an IT consultant, sees online degree programs as the logical evolution of academia. “For me, it’s impossible to be away from home for ten hours a day while working and then be available for campus classes at night. Earning my degree online allows me to spend time with my family in the early evenings and take care of assignments and coursework once my kids are in bed. None of the colleges in close proximity to me offer the classes I need with a schedule that fits my life. When you can’t make sacrifices to attend college because it’s simply not possible, you look for alternatives.”
While not all online colleges and universities offer lower tuition rates than campus based counterparts, many are able to reduce student expenses by eliminating superfluous costs, such as athletic fees charged to all students at almost all colleges regardless of whether they participate in athletics or not. The savings may seem relatively small on a per credit basis, but added up over the course of a four year degree program, it can make a reall difference. This is especially true for those who are borrowing to get an education.
Ultimately, though, it’s the end that justifies the means, which is where online degree programs have gained the most ground. Compared to just a few years ago, it is much more widely accepted that e-learning can provide the same quality of education available at campus based educational institutions. Continues Reed, “Knowing that my education will afford me the same opportunities I would have if I had been able to attend a traditional college is important to me. No matter where you go to school, you want to know that the time and effort you put in will help you reach your goals when you graduate.”

School College University Online
The computer revolution scripted by the emergence of internet and personal computer as household items in the developed world has altered the way people approach the concept of education. The old methods of education, particularly, that of distant education, are changing to remodel themselves in the changing world driven by computer and internet. For obtaining a degree through online education, one does not need to go to the classroom in an educational institution at a specified time to attend the class by the teacher. Now, one can sit at the comfort of one’s home or at any other place that is convenient at any time one wishes to attend the class and hear the lecture. Only thing is that one should have a computer and internet connection to have access to the online lecture and other study materials. Through a simple search in Google, one can find a number of websites that offer online college degrees on various topics. Then there are websites specifically set up to compile the information about colleges that offer online courses from which one can get graduation certificate. Also, many community colleges and junior colleges provide online associate degrees on a variety of subjects.
The advantages such online learning facility offers are many. Other than the convenience factor, one can save time and energy needed for commuting from the residence to the college. This facility is most useful for people who engage in some other activity like a full time job or a business. Also, online courses have an international flavor and naturally will offer more courses than what a local college can possibly provide. Another advantageous thing is that most of these courses are customized; that is one can set one’s own pace for studying a particular course depending upon the availability of time. In spite of all these advantages, one should do a detailed research to find the right college for obtaining a college degree through online. It is because in internet fraudulent activities coexist with genuine ones, and sometimes even the experienced people find hard to distinguish between the two. If the college has a reputation as a traditionally good college, then chances are that the online course provided by that college will be better. Also, the graduate certificate provided by such colleges or universities tend to have more value for potential employment opportunities.
Some of the popular universities in the United States that provide online degree courses include The New England College, Norwich University, Harding University, Jones-International University, Regis University, University of Phoenix Online, Salem International University, Western Governors University, Ohio University, City University of Seattle, Kaplan University Online, Central Michigan University Online, Iowa Central College, and Northeastern University College of Business Administration. Also, Baker College Online, Berkeley College, Ellis College, and Florida Metropolitan University are some of the prominent colleges and universities that provide associate degrees online. But ideally, one should seek the help of friends or other known persons who have experience in online education to find the right college to study a particular course online.

I asked this exact same question yesterday (or the day before) and I literally got 50% of the people answering saying one thing, and the other 50% saying the complete opposite. Let me take another vote….
If they ask something like "How do you plan to fund your studies?"
can I just put "Personal savings and bank loans" or are you supposed to write a complete sentence, "I plan to fund my studis with personal savings and bank loans"
You should answer with a full sentence, because you are not a caveman.
Really, if you *can* write a full sentence, why wouldn’t you? Only one of your options could hurt you, so pick the other one. Write it out.

I know they are out there and I am trying to look for one that focuses on international relations/affairs or political science. Basically accredited schools.
Thus far I have only been able to find the George Bush School in Texas.
There are literally dozens of them available. Try this search engine to find what you are looking for.
