The chance is slim to none. I have CCS and CCA, but without experience, the site would not even consider me.

It depends on the need for coders in your area, how far you are willing to travel, any medical background you have…etc. You can get lucky and get a coding job fresh out of school with no experience, but more often than not you’ll need to start at the bottom and work your way up. But I will tell you that coding is rarely dull. There are always funny stories, or challenging procedures. I’ve been doing it for a year now, and my days fly by!

Good.
Also consider self teaching yourself as much as you can.
Being self taught is also, just as well respected in my opinion – if not better.
Go to your bookstore and get a book on medical coding.
It may come with a cd, you can practice test from.
